While we have hundreds of very happy Mac customers, Crew Companion is a Windows-based program; therefore, you need to either have the Apple Bootcamp software that allows you to dual-boot to Windows or you need to run a Windows emulator program as discussed below. Our staff is not capable of troubleshooting Mac OS issues since Crew Companion is still a Windows-based product.Why isn’t Crew Companion directly compatible with Mac?  Core Technology, the company who owns the component that authenticates and loads the Unimatic terminal told me they are 100% certain they will NEVER produce a MAC version of that thing. So, native Mac capability is still on our To Do List but won’t be possible until we figure out a way around Core Technology.

Running Windows XP, Vista, Win7 and Win8(32 and 64 bit). In all cases below, you will need to supply your own version of Windows. Discounted copies of Windows are available via the employee discounts on Skynet or even potentially cheaper OEM versions may be obtained from online retailers. Try searching here.

VMWare Fusion allows one to run Windows within a window on the Mac desktop.

  • Parallels allows one to run Windows within a window on the Mac desktop.
    • PROS: Runs Windows in a window on your Mac w/no re-boot required.
    • CONS: $$$.
    • Requirements: Parallels requires XP Home (or Pro) Service Pack 2 (or greater) or 32-bit versions of Vista Business or Vista Ultimate for full networking capabilities
  • Boot Camp from Apple allows you to select Windows or OSX at startup.
    • PROS: FREE and games w/3D graphics play at full speed.
    • CONS: requires reboot to switch between operating systems. This means you can’t use any Mac programs while using Crew Companion.
  • Virtual Box FREE open source software.
    • PROS: FREE and runs Windows in a window on your Mac w/no re-boot required.
    • CONS: requires some computer skills to install and set up.
  • NOTE: Regardless of whatever method you use to run Windows, you are still running Windows and will require a firewall and Anti-Virus software.
